The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-Line strikes a tidy balance between sporty accents and practical family-friendly SUV features. It’s equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel-drive, with the option of the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. 

Exterior styling for the R-Line version adds distinctive touches: 19-inch black alloy wheels, sportier bumpers and body-coloured lower sill treatments that set it apart from the regular SE trim. Inside, the cabin gains ambient lighting with 15 colour choices, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and upscale vinyl/­leatherette upholstery, along with dual-zone automatic climate control and heated front seats. 

On the tech & safety front, the SE R-Line includes wireless smartphone charging, a rear-view camera, and VW’s IQ.Drive safety suite featuring blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist and forward-collision mitigation. Cargo space remains competitive among compact three-row-capable SUVs, thanks to Tiguan’s long-wheelbase design. While the engine won’t thrill performance-seekers, the ride is refined, the features generous, and the R-Line styling gives it a sharper look than many mainstream rivals.
